Greater Glider, Yellow-Bellied Glider, Long-Nosed Bandicoot & Hollow-Bearing Tree Detection Report – 483-504-0002 'Spinner'

Within and adjacent VicForests logging coupe 483-504-0002, an investigation was undertaken to identify the presence/absence of threatened nocturnal wildlife inhabiting the forested area. This report details the presence of three threatened Greater Gliders (Petauroides volans) and the presence of Yellow-bellied Gliders (Petaurus australis) across two survey nights, and documents some of the many hollow-bearing trees present within coupe 483-504-0002. Terrestrial camera trapping in April-May 2018 also detected a Long-nosed Bandicoot (Perameles nasuta) within the coupe. The following report concludes that VicForests are planning logging operations within forest inhabited by the threatened Greater Glider, listed under the ‘Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988’ as of 2017.
